Baking Soda Cleaning Throughout The Home

Baking Soda Cleaning
Today people are thinking about the environment more than ever before. With all the worry about climate change and the increasing amount of information that can be found on ways we are damaging our home, people are trying to find every way they can to make the world a cleaner better place.
One thing that people think about is water. Our natural water resources are too often polluted by waste and chemicals used by humans. Many people want to decrease their contribution to this type of pollution and one way of doing that is to use earth friendly cleaners.
Although you can surely purchase cleaners that are supposed to be safe for the environment, you can also whip up your own at home. This is not just some fad related to climate change, but our parents and grandparents were doing it decades and even centuries ago!
Probably the best known natural home cleaner is vinegar. Next to that might be baking soda. Baking soda cleaning offers a lot of advantages to cleaning in many different home uses and it is extremely inexpensive, besides being safe for the environment and fume free.
Baking soda can be used in cleaning in a similar way to gentle abrasive cleansers. It can be mixed with either water or vinegar and rubbed into the surface or area to be washed. It can then be rinsed away or you can allow it to dry first for more cleaning power.
Baking soda cleaning is also excellent for shining silver. Simply soak your silver jewelry or other items in a mixture of baking soda and warm water. Allow it so sit for a few hours. Then remove and rub the surface. Rinse and dry and your silver will be bright and shining once again.
There is something else that needs to be cleaned more than once a day that baking soda is good for. Your teeth! Baking soda acts as a perfect toothpaste when combined with hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. This is a mild and effective natural method for getting those pearly whites clean.
Baking soda can also be used in your laundry. Here it is used not so much for its cleaning properties as for water softening properties.
Of course baking soda is also great at neutralizing odors. It can be sprinkled into shoes that don’t smell particularly fresh or used in the refrigerator to remove odors. If you spill a liquid such as pickle juice you can sprinkle some baking soda on the spot to keep it from smelling bad.
Baking soda has many uses in cleaning and is an inexpensive and earth friendly alternative to commercial cleaners. There are so many good reasons for using it that it is just a wonder that everyone doesn’t use it!
